The past few years have seen brands that were traditionally seen as outdoor-only (think Patagonia, The North Face) come into the world of casual wear, and to an extent, streetwear.

Moncler has also taken advantage of this phenomenon, and as a result, it is more popular than ever before. Therefore, I decided to take a look at them for my “sizing review” series.

In this article, I will be going over the Moncler sizing system, and exactly what size you need to buy at this brand.

How Does Moncler Fit?

Moncler clothing does not fit true to size. Their jackets run small when compared with competitors such as The North Face and Canada Goose.

This can particularly hurt the people who live in extremely-cold weather areas such as Alaska because some of their jackets are so tight that there isn’t ample room for layering.

Thus, the only alternative, in my opinion, is sizing up. It is a sham that Moncler cannot figure out their sizing because the quality of their jackets is impeccable.

Also, Moncler has a pretty unique sizing system that can be a bit difficult to understand.

Moncler uses a number system for its jackets which starts from 00 and goes up to 7. Here’s what the numbers mean:

Jackets

Moncler jackets run small when compared to the rest of the outerwear market. Therefore, sizing up is necessary.

Another argument in favor of going one size up is the fact that jackets are usually worn as the topmost layer. In order to have space to layer underneath a Moncler jacket, you are going to need to size up.

Boots

The boots at Moncler run half a size small. Therefore, if you are in-between sizes, it is recommended that you size up.

Although they may not be very popular outside the camping and hiking circle, Moncler has an entire lineup of boots that are surprisingly good in terms of quality.

The grip on the shoes is great, and the fact that they are made to be worn outdoors (opposed to something like a pair of white sneakers) increases their utility even further.

Sweaters

Moncler makes a lot of different types of sweaters, and most of them fit one size small. Therefore, size up for additional comfort and wearability

Like most other outerwear brands out there, Moncler marries technology with comfort in order to create its sweater. It places a lot of emphasis on fleece as the material for the outdoors, and most of its sweaters are very warm and rugged.

Shirts

Moncler shirts are true to size, and thus there is no need to size up or size down when buying them.

Moncler shirts are made for rough use. Most of them use components such as moisture-wicking, crease-free technology, and quick-drying to their advantage.

And it’s great that you don’t need to think a lot before purchasing one. Just go with your actual size and you will end up with a shirt that fits you perfectly.

Do Moncler Vests Run Small?

Moncler vests do not run small. They are true to size.

Moncler makes awesome vests, and their quality is miles ahead of anything else on the market. And it comes as a great relief that the brand has got its sizing right, for once.

I ordered three different vests from their website (pro tip: Shop from their official website, it constantly runs sales) and they fit perfectly. I didn’t have to face the inconvenience of sizing up or down.

Therefore, if you are buying a vest from Moncler, just go with your original size.

Does Moncler Make Plus-Size Clothing?

Moncler has an extensive plus-size collection that goes up to 3XL for women and 5XL for men. The clothing fits true to size.

Perhaps out of all the brands that I have covered in this sizing review series, Moncler has the most range of sizes under its belt. Especially the men’s collection, which is ignored by most major outlets, goes up to a whopping 5XL!

The only point of contention would be that while they offer a lot of sizes, the size of the collection (no pun intended) can be increased.
