Does Guess Run Small? (Honest Sizing Review!)

Guess jeans, jackets, and footwear run small, while their tops and dresses run larger. Thus, you may have to size up or down to achieve the best fit.

The trend of running small is kind of consistent throughout the brand’s various categories of clothing but there are a few exceptions. This can make buying Guess products a bit confusing.

Guess was founded just over 40 years ago by two brothers from France who traveled to the States in search of the American Dream. The brand is known for its incredibly iconic stone wash denim which blew up its popularity in the 80s and 90s.

The label has a youthful vibe but at the same time is luxurious and classy. The Guess logo is instantly recognizable around the world courtesy of its operations in over 80 countries.

Guess clothing runs into sizing issues and in this article, I’m going to walk you through some of them and suggest potential solutions.

How do Guess clothes fit?

guess logo

Guess clothes fit a bit tight compared to other brands, but their quality is unmatched. Therefore, if you want to get the perfect fit, it is better to size up.

Guess clothes are designed to be worn comfortably. As in, you can wear them regularly and not feel restricted or worry about spoiling. The quality of materials also makes them relatively durable and a solid-feeling garment adds to the overall experience of dressing up.

But what size should you get when shopping from them?

Here’s what I recommend. Take a look at the official size chart on the Guess website. Compare your body measurements with the chart, and simply go one size larger than what the chart recommends. Use this rule of thumb, and you would never have to deal with the hassle of returns again.

Quick Tip 👉 Sometimes the Guess website shows discounts on products only after going through the clearance section and not if you directly go to the product page. Thus, make sure that you always check for your product in the sale section on the Guess website.

Jeans

Guess denim tends to run small, especially when compared to other brands. The quick fix is to simply buy a size larger than your usual one and get a more sleek-fitting piece of clothing.

The classic stone-washed jeans from Guess are what brought them into the limelight all those years ago. They’ve become a cultural icon and a representation of the brand.

Footwear

Guess footwear tends to be on the smaller side and your regular size may end up being a bit too tight for your feet. I’d suggest sizing up if you’re in the market for a pair or two.

From sneakers and boots to sandals and shoes, Guess has quite a stunning collection of footwear in their lineup. Any pair you buy promises to elevate your look and get people talking!

Jackets

Guess’s jackets are like a physical manifestation of style, freedom, and the pure American desire to be adventurous! They’re made from great materials and will turn heads when you enter a room.

There’s a caveat with Guess jackets, however, that is they tend to run small. This is especially the case if you’re going to be wearing layers underneath. My suggestion would be to size up and get a larger jacket for more comfort and practicality.

Dresses and jumpsuits

Guess dresses run larger than expected. This is not ideal as they really look their best when the dress fits you well. Simply size down and you’re good to go!

This is a department where Guess truly does stand out. Their dresses are super chic, beautiful to look at, and wonderful to wear. From maxis to jumpsuits and rompers, they have it all!

Tops

Guess tops do tend to run a bit large, and your regular size may not end up fitting well. I’d suggest sizing down to achieve a cozier and optimal fit.

Tops from Guess are super stylish and super comfortable. They’re the epitome of casual wear but with a touch of luxury and opulence.

What size should you buy from Guess?

If you are buying jeans or jackets from Guess, go one size up than your regular size. But if you are buying tops and jeans, you actually need to size down.

The top-tier apparel provider obviously feels more premium and comfortable to wear when compared to its fast fashion alternatives. If you don’t mind paying extra for the added comfort and fit, I’d suggest you go for it!

When it comes to jeans, jackets, and footwear from Guess, I’m going to suggest sizing up, especially if you’re well-built or on the bulkier side. This roominess will offer you more ease of movement.

On the other hand, go for a smaller size in dresses and tops as this will enhance your silhouette, even more so if you’re of the petite kind.

When it comes to plus-size clothing, Guess falls short in terms of the sizes offered. The largest one they sell is 2XL which is not ideal. A redeeming factor, however, is the ones that are available fit absolutely true to size.

Final remarks

The brand Guess is certainly a cultural icon. From their classic pairs of jeans and embroidered jackets, they’ve definitely influenced the modern fashion scene a lot.

In this article, we looked at some of the sizing inconsistencies at Guess. Let’s recap.

Guess jackets, jeans, and footwear tend to run small, while their dresses and tops quite often run too large. These issues can be resolved by sizing up and sizing down, respectively.
